Strangest animal costumes at Rio’s Carnival 2014
Written by Valentina Romano
Even this year the celebrations for the Carnival held in Rio de Janerio, Brazil, have captured the attention of the entire world. Colourful decorations, eccentric and extravagant outfits, and never lasting dances, covered the whole city, from the 22nd of February, until the 8th of March.
The first ever carnival festivity that Brazil organised, took place in Rio de Janeiro, where the “préstitos” (musicians) were going around the streets singing and playing instruments, inciting people to join in the ‘chaotic’ celebrations. All this took place in 1641, when John IV of Portugal was crowned King and parties were celebrating in Rio’s public streets.
Although this year’s Carnival recently ended, it left us with some pretty amazing pictures, of both people’s and animals’ outfits. Indeed, one strange aspect about the Brazilian Carnival, is that the individuals that join in the celebrations, bring their pet animals to have fun with them! More important, all the dogs, cats and in general animals that take part in the parades, are all decorated with incredible outfits! In the following pictures, you will be able to see how happy the animals are about all the attention that their owners and people give to them!
